LASI 2023 COVID-19 Assumption of Risk & Indemnity Agreement

Acknowledgement and Assumption of Risks Regarding COVID-19:  Participant and participant’s parent(s)/guardian(s) acknowledge that, given the contagious nature of COVID-19, there are certain inherent risks and dangers in participating in this Institute, whether as a participant or a spectator, which cannot be eliminated without destroying the unique character of the Institute. Individuals who participate in the Institute including all related activities, will be in close proximity to others, including, but not limited to, other participants, coordinators, assistants, teachers, employees, volunteers, guest artists, other parents/legal guardians, family members of other participants, and representatives of Pitzer College.  Participant and participant’s parent(s)/guardian(s) voluntarily assume the risk that they may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending the Institute and related activities, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death.  SMAC, LASI and Pitzer College cannot guarantee that the participant and/or participant’s parent(s)/guardian(s) will not come in contact or become infected with COVID-19 or any other infectious diseases and the participant’s parent(s)/guardian(s) fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibilities for losses, costs, and damages incurred as a result in participation in the Institute.

LASI 2023 Masking Policy
Barring a shift in guidance from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, indoor masking will be encouraged but not required on campus during LASI 2023. We strongly support persons who continue masking in all circumstances.

Some classes and teachers will be able to determine the masking policies for their spaces on campus. LASI participants are expected to cooperate with any such expectations or requirements. This means some faculty members might require masking from all LASI participants in their classroom. We highly recommend carrying masks with you every day you are on campus.

LASI 2023 Vaccine Policy
Currently, there is no vaccine policy for LASI 2023. Because public health directives can change often, please keep an eye on our COVID-19 directives for updates to our policy. LASI reserves the right to change these directives at any moment if it is to ensure the health and safety of all our participants. Participants must follow the LASI Refund Policy for cancellation, this refund policy is in effect regardless of how COVID directives might change.
