What to Expect at LASI
Welcome to the Los Angeles Suzuki Institute. Our institute is a family oriented Suzuki music summer program for students, parents & teachers of all ages & levels. We currently offer programs for students and teachers who play violin, viola, and cello. LASI offers a nurturing music experience held on the beautiful campus of Pitzer College in Claremont, CA.
-
Our Twinkler Program is designed for violin students with no experience or those studying Pre-Twinkle or Twinkle at their home studio. This is a half day program that ends by noon, although families are welcome to stay for the afternoon concerts and parent talks. This program is open to all ages, however most students will be 8 and under.
-
LASI is a place for students to thrive and experience playing music within the larger Los Angeles community. Our Foundational Program serves students in beginner levels, while PREP students prepares intermediate students to matriculate into our Young Artist Program by adding more advanced, age-appropriate courses such as Chamber Music and advanced electives.
-
Young Artists is for advanced students ages 13 & up. Young Artist students receive ensemble & chamber music experience, as well as advanced music electives.
-
A cornerstone of the Suzuki Method is ensuring that teachers have excellent, uniform training from the very beginning. LASI prides itself in bringing the best Teacher Trainers to teach Unit Training, Supplementary and Enrichment courses for many instruments offered through the SAA.
-
Participants have the option to register for dormitory accommodations and/or meal plans during the week of LASI. We highly recommend commuters get a Lunch Only plan to socialize with other attendees.
2026 Guest Artist •
Aubree Oliverson
We are delighted to have Aubree Oliverson as the Guest Artist for LASI 2026. Salastina is a musical salon for the 21st century. Praised for her evocative lyricism and joyful, genuine approach, young American violinist Aubree Oliverson is proving to be one of the most compelling artists of her generation, distinguishing herself with clear, honest, and colourful performances, which have been described as “powerful… brimming with confidence and joy” by the (Miami New Times).
Ms. Oliverson has been dedicated to reaching a broader audience and the importance of music education from a young age, and she has travelled to over 100 schools throughout the Western United States and spoken at national education conventions, encouraging thousands of children to work hard and participate in music. Recently, Aubree presented digital master classes for organizations including the Orchestra of the Americas, Music to Save Humanity, and Kontrapunktus Baroque, and she participated in a masterclass and side-by-side performance with the Esperanza Azteca Youth Orchestra in Mexico.
We look forward to her Guest Artist concert at LASI and her contribution to the chamber music programs as guest coach.

Dear LASI families,
There are many members of the LASI community that have been impacted by the fires, whether losing a home, a school, or a neighborhood. We hope that you and your family are safe and can access the resources necessary to thrive during this difficult time.
We wanted you to be aware of a fund being organized by Suzuki Music Association of California - Los Angeles branch for those who lost their instruments due to the fires. If you or your child has lost an instrument to the fire please contact us at lasi@smac-ca.org and we’ll coordinate with SMAC-LA on your behalf.
Our hearts are with all the members of our community and our immense gratitude goes out to all the first responders who are tirelessly working to protect our city.
Sincerely,
Morgan & Kelly
