LASI 2024 Impromptu Recitals

LASI will hold Impromptu Recitals on Thursday, June 20th at 11:00am, locations to be announced. This is an additional performance opportunity at LASI that any student may sign-up for until the programs are full. LASI participants will be notified when sign-ups are open on Sunday, June 16th and will close once both programs are full. Students performing in the honors recital are not eligible to perform on Impromptu Recitals.

You must bring the piano part to your piece to the performance, especially if you are playing a piece that is not in the Suzuki books. Please keep length of pieces under 5 minutes–longer pieces will require cuts. Please tell the pianist about your cuts ahead of time. There is no rehearsal with the pianist ahead of time. Dress is casual so feel free to wear what you’re wearing for the institute that day. Plan to arrive by 10:45am to get tuned and be ready to perform. The locations will be announced the morning of Thursday, June 20th.

Impromptu Recital submissions are closed. Please see Concert Programs for performance locations.

Parent's Daily Dozen: A Framework for Guiding a Successful Suzuki Experience
Charles Krigbaum

Living Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy in a 21st-century world can be challenging. Will we see the potency of the Suzuki method diluted by modern demands, a too-casual approach, endless distractions, and over-scheduled lives? Though countless aspects of life have changed since the beginning of the Suzuki method in the mid-20th century, the most essential element is timeless: a parent’s love for their child. This presentation will examine a dozen specific real-life strategies and relevant suggestions for parents with practical applications and modern sensibilities.

This talk will meet Thursday, June 20th at 4:30pm in the Gold Student Center MPR. This talk is for parents, please plan to drop-off children at Gold Center Yoga Student across the hall.
